People keep asking me how I fire my work so I here is a little diagram I made to kinda show how it works. I usually burn news paper and sticks or whatever else I can find, a firing usually takes half an hour in all. I need to work with it some more to see how firing times change the results, also if trying to create a reduction atmosphere at the end of the burn helps the results at all.


The "Air" label is just to show how the draft works, it actually pulls quite a bit of air through.

I am about to fire my slab built burnished vase in my tube, I'm a little worried about it cracking due to some of the seams being sub par. This is also the fist piece I'm trying color on, it covered in moss that has been soaked in stains and oxides, I hope it turns out...

I wanted to post a video of the tube firing I did on Monday or of some black smithing I did over the summer but they aren't being cooperative so I'll post them later....
